Brazilian influencer who spent $50,000 to become the “Human Barbie” dies at 31
Police in Brazil are investigating the mysterious death of Barbara Jankavski, a social media star famous for her “Human Barbie” look.
The social media world is mourning the death of Barbara Jankavski, a 31-year-old Brazilian content creator known online as the “Human Barbie.” Her body was discovered on Sunday, November 2, inside a hotel in São Paulo.
Police open investigation into death
Brazilian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of her death. According to CNN Brasil, a 51-year-old man identified as Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto reportedly hired Jankavski’s “private services” on the same night she died.
Campos told the network that he and Jankavski had consumed illegal substances before she lost consciousness. He said he called emergency services and performed CPR when he realized she had stopped moving.
Despite his account, police have described the death as suspicious. When officers found Jankavski’s body, she was wearing only underwear and had a visible injury to her left eye as well as several marks on her back.
The “Human Barbie” transformation
Jankavski had built a following of more than 300,000 on TikTok and over 50,000 on Instagram. Her fame stemmed from her dramatic transformation into what she called her version of Barbie, inspired by the iconic Mattel doll.
Over the years, she reportedly spent more than $50,000 on 25 cosmetic surgeries and procedures to achieve the look. Her extreme dedication to the transformation earned her the nickname “Human Barbie” across Brazilian media and social platforms.

News of her death has sparked an outpouring of grief and disbelief among her followers. Many have expressed condolences and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.
Authorities in São Paulo have not yet released an official cause of death, pending the results of toxicology and forensic reports.
