Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys dies: What was the cause of death?

The family of Brian Wilson announced that cofounder and driving creative force behind the Beach Boys has died at the age of 82.

“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” they wrote in a post on Instagram and the musician’s website. “We are at a loss for words right now.”

“Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world,” they added.

What was the cause of Brain Wilson’s death?

Neither announcement mentioned what was the cause of Wilson’s death. However, last year he was placed into a conservatorship by his family under his publicist, Jean Sievers, and manager, LeeAnn Hard after he was diagnosed with a “major neurocognitive disorder.” A doctor’s statement said the Wilson was taking medication for dementia and was “unable to properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing or shelter.”

The move was made not long after Wilson’s second wife Melinda Ledbetter passed away in January 2024.

Wilson is survived by seven children, daughters Wendy and Carnie with his first wife, Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford, and Dakota Rose, Daria Rose, Delanie Rose, Dylan and Dash, whom he adopted with Ledbetter.
