Britney Spears reconciles with her mother
Mother and daughter were sadly estranged for three years.
Britney Spears has reconciled with her estranged mother, Lynne Spears, after three years of separation, and even longer since they began having issues in their relationship.
The singer mentioned she was so relieved that they can finally do normal mother-daughter things together, like going out for lunch and shopping.
The ‘Crazy’ singer posted on Instagram Thursday to share with fans how the reconciliation happened, alongside a photo of herself as a child dressed as a ballerina.
“I feel so blessed,” Britney said. “With family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds.”
A long awaited visit
Britney revealed that her mom visited her recently for the first time in three years, and the gesture led to reconciliation.
“My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years,” the singer wrote. “It’s been such a long time.”
“After being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!!” Britney exclaimed. “I love 💕 you so much !!! Psss… I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let’s go shopping afterwards !!!”
Britney and Lynne Spears had a falling out surrounding Britney’s more than 13-year conservatorship, which she was released from November 2021.
Britney’s history with Lynne
At the time of her release, Britney posted an accusatory comment online.
“Pssss my dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago … but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea !!!!” Spears wrote at the time. “I will never get those years back.”
“She secretly ruined my life,” she added.
Despite Britney’s cruel words on social media, her mother sent an encouraging note when Britney got married shortly afterwards.
“You look radiant and so happy!” Lynne wrote. “Your wedding is the ‘Dream’ wedding! And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special!”
“I am soooo happy for you! I love you!” Britney Spears’ mom said.
Some months later, Britney suggested the two go out for a coffee.
“After no coffee for 15 years … Mom we can go have coffee together now !!!” Britney wrote while on vacation post-conservatorship release. “I’m treated as an equal … let’s have coffee and talk about it !!!”
