Chipotle to open a restaurant in Mexico: Jimmy Kimmel “I am excited for them to try what we think Mexican food is”
The California based fast food outlet is set to open an outlet in neighbouring Mexico in 2026.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is Mexico bound.
The California-based chain said earlier this week that it plans planning to open a restaurant in Mexico early next year, with the venture set to be the first of its kind south of the border in its 30-year history.
Apart from the United States, Chipotle has restaurants in Canada, France, Germany, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and the UK boasting a total of over 3,700 outlets across the planet which employ more than 100,000 people.
Nate Lawton, Chipotle’s chief business development officer, said the company is confident that its menu will resonate with Mexican diners.

“The country’s familiarity with our ingredients and affinity for fresh food make it an attractive growth market for our company,” Lawton said in a statement.

Chat Show host Jimmy Kimmel discussed the brand moving to Mexico on his daily show and offered his take on the initiative.
“Why are they doing this? This for me breaks a sacred rule when it comes to food. You don’t try to sell people their own stuff”.
He sarcastically added: “though I am excited for them to try what we think Mexican food is”.
