Christ Pratt has been open about his faith as a Christian as of late, and now the 43-year-old is sharing how he looks to Scripture to endure the worldly trials he faces.

When Pratt contemplates the criticism and persecution Jesus faced 2000 years ago, it helps him to remain strong in the face of his many critics — especially when it comes to his religious beliefs.

When asked about his reactions to people criticizing him for his faith in Jesus, Pratt said that was okay, Jesus warned there would be much opposition.

“That’s nothing new, that’s nothing new, you know?” Pratt told Page Six. “If I was of this world, they would love me just like that, but as it is, I’m chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20.”

“That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too.

Pratt says Christianity is about faith not works

Chris Pratt’s approach to Christianity is not based on the religious traditions of the faith, but rather the relationship aspect of it as per the book of Romans, which says that it is not by works that one is saved, but by believing in Jesus Christ.

In a cover story for Men’s Health in 2022, Pratt said it is not the “religion” that matters, but a heart surrendered to God.

“Religion has been oppressive as f*ck for a long time,” he said. “I didn’t know that I would kind of become the face of religion when really I’m not a religious person.”

“I think there’s a distinction between being religious — adhering to the customs created by man, oftentimes appropriating the awe reserved for who I believe is a very real God — and using it to control people, to take money from people, to abuse children, to steal land, to justify hatred,” Pratt explained.

“Whatever it is. The evil that’s in the heart of every single man has glommed onto the back of religion and come along for the ride.”

Pratt’s family life

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star met his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, at church. The couple went on to have two daughters, two-year-old Lyla, and one-year-old Eloise. Pratt has a 10-year-old son named Jack by his former wife, Anna Faris.

“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you,’ Pratt wrote on Instagram after he proposed. “Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go.”

When Pratt and Schwarzenegger got engaged, Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver,  mentioned her admiration for the couple’s faith in an Instagram post.

“Congratulations to two loving, kind, caring, thoughtful, spiritual people,” she wrote. “We are so happy for you. You are blessed, as is everyone who knows you. Yes, let’s go.”
