Courteney Cox regrets getting face fillers

The actress opened up about her past use of facial fillers and why she got them.

The actress opened up about her past use of facial fillers and why she got them.

Courteney Cox was a recent guest on the ‘Gloss Angeles’ podcast, hosted by Kirbie Johnson and Sarah Tan Christensen, which focuses on all things related to beauty and makeup.

In addition to talking about her home fragrance brand Homecourt, and her beauty regime, Cox opened up about her past use of anti-aging injectables, better known as fillers. The ‘Friends’ actress opened up about what caused her to get them and why she had them removed.

The domino effect of anti-aging procedures

“Thinking I was getting older when I was really young, that’s just a bummer, a waste of time,” the actress began when speaking about her past filler use.

“It’s a domino effect, it’s like you don’t realize that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more cause you look normal to yourself.

“You look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh, that looks good,’ you think, and you don’t realize what it looks like to the outside person and just doing too many fillers and having to have them removed, which thank god they are removable, I think I messed up a lot and now luckily I can, I was able to reverse most of that, now I’m actually just older.”

The actress maintains that going the filler route was one of her biggest regrets and that she can hardly recognize herself from that time.

“I look at pictures of me from when I thought I looked okay, and I can’t believe it.”

Why did she dissolve her fillers?

In 2017, the actress opened up about having her fillers removed, saying that it made her look strange. At the time, she had filler inserted into her cheeks and around her eyes, changing the shape of her face.

In an interview with New Beauty, the ‘Scream VI’ actress revealed that it was a friend who ultimately helped her realize she was doing too much.

“It’s worse in pictures than in real life,” she said. “I have one friend who was like, ‘Whoa, no more!’ I thought, I haven’t done anything in six months. I didn’t realize.

I never thought of myself as being delusional. I think photographs do show up worse, so when people in the world see you and write comments that are usually mean, I think, ‘It can be worse than what it really is’.”

The actress continues by saying that she’s come to embrace the aging process, and asserts that she’d rather look natural than fake.

“I’ve had all my fillers dissolved. I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was [...] Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake.”
