Lana Del Rey released her ninth studio album ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd,’ on March 24
Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey released her most recent studio album titled ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’ this past Friday. The album is already receiving positive feedback from critics and the media.
In a review from RollingStone, Del Rey explores love, failed relationships, sense of self, and navigating familial grief on ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd.’
Specifically, RollingStone critic Brittany Spanos praised Del Rey for her rawness in reflecting not only on her personal past but her musical past as well. Arguably more vulnerable than her previous works, Del Rey’s songwriting on her new album “puts her in a creative class all her own.”
Pitchfork critic Olivia Horn also applauded Del Rey’s songwriting abilities, which were first truly recognized upon the release of her 2019 album ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell!’
Her ninth studio release showcases her lyrical skills on a new level, including her opening track ‘The Grants’ and her song ‘A&W’ which was released as a single prior to the album drop.
Pitchfork, who is known for their critical reviews of music, gave the album an 8.3 rating overall.
Taylor Swift shows love for Lana Del Rey’s new album
Currently on her Eras tour, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift congratulated fellow artist Lana Del Rey on her new album release. Swift told her own concert-goers how big of a fan she is of Del Rey’s music.
“I just think she’s the best that we have,” Swift praised.
She continued, “I think we need to make it a priority as a group to stream, buy, support this album and this artist… she knows I’m obsessed with her.”
Swift then followed this up with a live performance of ‘Snow on the Beach’, a collaborative track between the two singer-songwriters that appeared on Swift’s most recent album, ‘Midnights’.
