‘Dial of Destiny’ will be Harrison Ford’s last performance as Indiana Jones

Ford revealed in a recent interview that the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones’ film will be his last.

Update:
‘Dial of Destiny’ will be Harrison Ford’s last performance as Indiana Jones

‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ will be the fifth installment in the franchise and Harrison Ford’s last appearance as Indiana Jones.

The 80-year-old actor stated as such to Total Film Magazine, so fans shouldn’t expect him in the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones’ spin-off series that’s currently in development at Disney+.

“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character,” Ford said. “I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”

‘Dial of Destiny’ will feature a de-aged Ford

Director James Mangold confirmed in an interview that the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones’ film will feature 25 minutes of a de-aged Harrison Ford.

“I just shot him, and he pretended that he was 35,” Mangold said. “But the technology involved is a whole other thing.

“We had hundreds of hours of footage of him in close-ups, in mediums, in wides, in every kind of lighting, night and day. I could shoot Harrison on a Monday as, you know, a 79-year-old playing a 35-year-old, and I could see dailies by Wednesday with his head already replaced.”

A similar technique was used in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 with Mark Hamill as fans witnessed a young Luke Skywalker approach characters Din Dijarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu.

What do we know about ‘Dial of Destiny’?

‘Dial of Destiny’ will be the only film in the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg or have a story written by George Lucas.

Alongside Ford, the cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena Shaw, Mads Mikkelsen as Jurgen Voller, Antonio Banderas as Renaldo, John Rhys-Davies as Sallah, Shaunette Renee Wilson as Mason, Thomas Kretschmann as Colonel Weber, Toby Jones as Basil Shaw and Boyd Holbrook as Klaber.

‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ is slated to release on June 30, 2023.
