Did the royal family attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s christening of daughter Lilibet?

King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton were all invited, but did they attend?

Did the royal family attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s christening of daughter Lilibet?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle held a christening for daughter Lilibet last Friday, with between 20 to 30 guests attending the intimate gathering.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted not to have a British baptism for their youngest daughter. Instead, they held an Anglican ceremony at their Montecito mansion.

Those in attendance included Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, Lilibet’s godfather, Tyler Perry, as well as an unnamed godmother, an insider told People.

Following the ceremony, attendees were treated to an afternoon of food and dancing.

Did the royal family attend the event?

Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle invited members of the royal family to Lilibet’s christening, King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton were not in attendance.

It isn’t known when the British royals were asked to attend, or how they were asked to attend the event.

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed.

Tyler Perry arrived in Montecito last week ahead of the event

Tyler Perry was seen arriving in Montecito last week ahead of the event. The 53-year-old allowed the couple to stay in his house when they first arrived in the United States back in 2020.

He was reportedly joined by a 10-person gospel choir, who performed ‘Oh Happy Day’ and ‘This Little Light of Mine’ following the ceremony.

Perry revealed that he was godfather to Lilibet, who was born on June 4, 2021 in Santa Barbara, California, back in December.

In the final episode of the Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan’, Perry said that Harry and Meghan “were pretty serious on the phone” when they asked him, which was different from usual chats, which are more lighthearted.

“I go, ‘Okay, what’s going on?’ They said, ‘Well, we’d like for you to be Lili’s godfather.’ I go, ‘Whoa,’” said Perry. “I had to take a minute to take that in.”

“And I thought, ‘I’d be honored. I’d absolutely be honored’.”

News that the royal family did not attend the christening comes days after news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been invited to King Charles’ coronation on May 6. They have yet to confirm whether they will the attend the event.
