It’s a great moment for TV lovers. Hot on the heels of the surprise hit The Curse of Widow’s Bay, another buzzy miniseries is about to drop. On Monday, May 4, Netflix released Lord of the Flies, a brand new television adaptation that’s already earned high praise from none other than Stephen King.

The author posted: “I had my doubts, but it’s remarkable. It captures the horror and mystery of children descending into… well, you decide.”

This four‑episode series comes from Jack Thorne, the creator behind Adolescence, and reimagines William Golding’s classic novel — the same one that helped earn him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1983.

Each episode runs about an hour and features a score by legendary composer Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Interstellar), giving the story an even more cinematic feel.

The plot follows a group of boys stranded on a tropical island after a plane crash. As they struggle to signal for help, they attempt to build some kind of order — a system to keep everyone united and safe. But one boy rejects the plan entirely, breaking off to form his own faction.

What begins as a disagreement quickly spirals into a power struggle that turns the island into a battleground.
