Drake delights fans with surprise appearance at Lil Wayne concert

Lil Wayne surprised fans who attended his show in Toronto on Wednesday night by bringing out the city’s own Drake for a performance.

The concert took place at History, with Wayne currently on his ‘Welcome to The Carter Tour’.

Drake took the stage to the start the highly-anticipated show, and fans couldn’t contain their excitement once they released they were being treated to a Young Money reunion.

“I just want to say I love my family very much, I love my son very much, and I love my friends very much, but I have to tell you, that this guy on stage is literally the most important person in my life. I promise you,” Drake told the 2,500 fans in attendance at History.

Drake shared some special words for Wayne, stating he was the only rapper that gave him a chance when he was trying to bring Toronto music to the masses.

“I want you to know that there was a time where I would go all across the world trying to get sh*t heard and trying to get people to understand that Toronto is a place that could generate music,” said Drake.

“This is the only guy that believed in me. Everybody turned me down.”

Drake joined Young Money in 2009, with Lil Wayne credited for discovering the then unknown artist.

What songs did Drake perform?

Fans were treated to quite the range of Drake songs, as he performed songs like ‘HYFR’, ‘The Motto’, ‘Energy’ and ‘SICKO MODE’, as well as ‘Marvin’s Room’.

It isn’t the first time Drake and Lil Wayne have reunited this year. Drake brought Lil Wayne out onto the stage as he co-headlined Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina at the beginning of April.

Drake preparing for his own tour

The performance comes as Drake is gearing up for his own tour in a few months.

The rapper will hit the stage for his ‘It’s All a Blur Tour’ with 21 Savage, with the opening show scheduled for June 16 a the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

It’s the first time Drake has toured since headlining ‘Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour’ back in 2018.
