Update:

Taylor Swift’s interrupted award acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was one of the most iconic music industry moments of the decade, and perhaps a hint at what was to come from Kanye West.

The rapper stormed the stage and grabbed the microphone from Swift, telling the crowd that Beyonce had deserved the award instead. West said: “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”.

That phrase has become iconic and it’s grown a life of its own. This week, it emerged that Swift had also made light of the situation, in a handwritten note attached to a jar of homemade jam.

Last month Ed Sheeran posted a photo on his social media, showing the jar with a note that reads: “Yo Ed—I’m really happy 4 you and I’m gonna let u finish but this is the best JAM OF ALL TIME - T."

It seems that the jar in question was a gift from Swift to Sheeran, using the now-infamous ‘I’m gonna let you finish’ phrase on the label. Sheeran captioned the photo ‘it was pretty good jam’ on the Instagram post.

The post went down well with fans on Instagram, with one commenting ”omg ICONIC." Another said “SHES GOT JOKES“, while one said “Taylor is sooo funny for this!!”

The post was actually published on an account called Teddy’s Old Phone, which is used by Sheeran to share old photos found recently on a former phone. Alongside the jam photo are pictures of Sheeren celebrating graduation, hanging out with Usher in Atlanta and inspecting his Grammy Award nominee medal.
