Ed Sheeran took to social media to clear up matters after a report from a UK tabloid suggested he spent New Year’s Eve at author J.K. Rowling’s estate.

The India Willoughby penned article which originally appeared in The Sun and has subsequently been removed after the Ipswich born musician set the record straight via a series of social media posts.

Sheeran posted on his X/Twitter account: “Respectfully, India Willoughby, and any other journalist who has reported both these stories, neither are true. I spent new year with my family and friends”.

The singer also corrected Willoughby on another ‘false claim’ that he ‘brought joy to wounded IDF soldiers’.

“The story about wounded soldiers at my show, was a charity that sourced tickets to my show in Cyprus last year, which was a large scale public concert,” Sheeran continued.

“This sort of reporting is [divisive] and damaging, please research before you post things.”

The 33-year-old Sheeran embarks on the Asian leg of his 2025 tour playing shows in Bhutan, India and Qatar.
