While this may be an unexpected trio to see together, actors Eliott Page, Julia Garner and rapper A$AP Rocky appeared quite at home with each other in a recent Gucci fragrance ad for the Gucci Guilty collection.

The driving themes of the campaign are self-acceptance, friendship, and love in every form. The stars came together to speak on these themes and how they have affected each of them at this current moment in each of their lives.

The trio became fast friends

“I met both of them for the first time on that shoot, but it didn’t feel like it. Within the first 10 minutes, it felt like we all knew each other for a long time,” Garner said of Page and Rocky.

“Humor is such a big quality for me, and they both have such a great sense of humor. It was such a special memory.”

The good vibes are apparent in the resulting photos, which finds the stars gracefully posing amongst each other as if they had known each other for years.

“I had never done a campaign before, so I felt a tad shy at the beginning to be honest, but Rocky and Julia are the loveliest people, and upon meeting them, my nerves evaporated,” Page said upon meeting his costars.

“They are big-hearted, kind, sincere, hilarious, and grounded.”

Rocky says that the experience “felt normal” and added that “it didn’t feel like I was with two other celebrities; I didn’t feel like a celebrity.”

An exploration of self-acceptance

“They celebrate the countless iterations of love, embodying complete self-acceptance and showing how openness unleashes the purest form of expression,” Gucci captioned the ad on Instagram.

And while the Gucci Guilty Men’s and Women’s fragrances appear to be binary, everyone has their own reaction to the fragrance notes contained in each bottle.

“I like the earthiness of it, the balance and the notes that give it that sensual vibe—the cedarwood, perhaps?” Page said of Gucci Guilty Pour Homme.

“I prefer the feminine one,” Rocky said. “To me, the liquid in here smells better on my body.”

“I really appreciate the fact that this seems genderless. It’s not really ‘his’ or ‘hers’—it’s all of ours and I like the fact that I’m a part of that,” the rapper explained.

The rapper and recent dad of two also explained that he refuses to conform and fit into stereotypical gender roles, or allow binary gender expressions to limit him.

“When I go shopping, I don’t really like to go into the men’s departments. I go to women’s because most men won’t shop there. Therefore, I’ll have exclusive pieces, so to speak.”
