Update:

This week Harrison Ford made his first appearance in public since being forced to sit out the Oscars ceremony due to health issues. On Monday the 82-year-old was seen out in New York, accompanying wife Calista Flockhart and taking the subway.

The ‘Indiana Jones’ star was seen out walking with Fockhart in the Upper West Side of New York before heading into the subway. From there the NY Post reports that Ford travelled on his own but did strike up a conversation with a fellow passenger, apparently telling the woman that he hadn’t taken the subway in years.

Ford remains one of the most iconic actors in Hollywood and, even in his 80s, has a busy schedule of upcoming projects. Next month he will feature in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ alongside Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman.

He is also a main character in the television series ’Shrinking‘, in which he pays Dr Paul Rhodes. Earlier this year Ford was nominated for his first-ever SAG Award for the role, shortlisted for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

However earlier this year he experienced some health issues. Ford was due to host the 2025 Academy Awards but dropped out after being diagnosed with shingles. The virus occurs in patients that have already had chickenpox, because it’s caused by the same virus.

Fans will be delighted to see Ford back in public and seemingly fully recovered. In recent years he has focused more on television projects and recently spoke to El País about the opportunities that it has given him.

“I think the kinds of writing that I’m choosing to be involved in is amongst the best writing that I’ve seen in a long time,” the actor says. “It’s not television we’re making. We’re making movies that are 10 hours long, and they’re chopped into 10 pieces. The opportunity to develop a character and relationships in that context exceeds the usual breadth of a feature film, and it’s exciting to work that way.”
