How last minute was Lady Gaga’s performance at the Oscars?
News that Lady Gaga would perform at the Oscars only began to filter on Sunday, but when did producers know she would be part of the ceremony?
Lady Gaga left quite the mark at the 95th annual Academy Awards thanks to her last-minute performance.
The singer wasn’t originally scheduled to perform at the show due to her busy schedule filming the upcoming ‘Joker’ sequel ‘Folie à Deux’.
However, in the end she managed to take the stage and deliver a candid performance of her Best Original song nominee, ‘Hold My Hand’, from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The singer, who wore an elaborate Versace gown on the champagne-colored carpet, simplified her look for the performance. Her hair was pulled back in a simple French braid, and she wore a black tee, a pair of ripped jeans and sneakers, along with no makeup.
She even found time to help a fallen photographer on the red carpet.
When did Lady Gaga’s performance come together?
Word that Lady Gaga was set to perform at the Oscars only began to make the rounds early on Sunday, with the producers shedding light on when things came together in an interview on Monday.
“Honestly, and this is not to pat ourselves on the back, because we’re very bad at that, but we’ve built up trust in the relationship with Gaga over the years,” Oscars executive producer Ricky Kirshner told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I did the Super Bowl with her and Glenn has done many awards shows with her, including the ‘Shallow’ performance at the Oscars.
“She really wanted to do something. She honestly was shooting her movie - there was no trickery involved.
“And Thursday, at four-something, we got a text that she wanted to try something, didn’t have time to put together a big performance, but wanted it to be raw and people to see the real Gaga, and, with a voice like that, you don’t need much more than that.”
Rihanna also performed at the Oscars
Lady Gaga wasn’t the only big name to deliver a stellar performance at the Oscars.
Rihanna wore a stunning beaded coordinating set with a black sheer bra top and matching pants as she performed ‘Lift Me Up’ from the 2022 superhero movie ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The singer showed off her baby bump yet again to the delight of fans, the second time she’s done so after her Super Bowl LVII performance back in February.
