The day we never thought would come has finally arrived. Taylor Swift plays her last show of The Eras Tour at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada today (Sunday, December 8).

Impact of Swift’s Eras Tour

It all started back in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, 2023, back when she might never even have heard of Travis Kelce. In the 21 months, 53 cities and 149 shows since then, Swift has broken onto the Forbes rich list, stimulated local economies, provoked seismic events and brought new audiences to the NFL.

The Eras Tour has become the highest-grossing music tour of all time and the first to exceed $1 billion in revenue (although Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour has now also broken through that barrier).

From Atlanta to Warsaw, and Argentina to Wales, an estimated 10.1 million fans have flocked to see Swift on stage, almost three per cent of the entire population of the United States.

Of course, the Eras Tour didn’t only take place stateside, with fans all around the globe joining in the fun. Spare a thought, though, for those poor souls in Vienna, Austria, where three planned shows in August 2024 were cancelled due to a terrorism plot.

What next for Swift after the Eras Tour?

Swift, who shared a heartfelt moment with her parents at the end of Friday night’s show in Vancouver, has described the tour as “the most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened”.

So, what will she do now that it’s all over? As it stands, the 34-year-old, who celebrates her birthday on Friday (December 13), has no gigs scheduled for 2025. That will undoubtedly change before too long.

Reports have suggested Swift will imminently announce the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” which would be the fifth album she has re-recorded. Speculation has also hinted at an Eras Tour documentary, brand new music or a venture into the filmmaking industry, although a period of rest looks to be most likely in the immediate future.

With the business end of the NFL season approaching and Swift now a free woman, expect to see her following Kansas City Chiefs across the United States as they chase another Super Bowl, which will no doubt bring her relationship with Kelce back into sharp focus.
