In announcing his return, the Academy’s Bill Kramer and Janet Yang told Variety that the organization was “thrilled to have Jimmy return as host and Molly [Jimmy’s wife] as executive producer of the Oscars. They share our love of movies and our commitment to producing a dynamic and entertaining show for our global audience.”
This year, during his performance, he was the target of an attack by former Presidnet Donald Trump on Truth Social. Kimmel, who is known for a segment on his show where celebrities read mean tweets, read the message to the crowd. He then used his prime time position to respond to the former president, calling out Trump’s behavior as immature and poking fun at the various legal cases he is subject to at this time.
