If you’re afraid of clowns, beware the final trailer for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’: Pennywise’s nightmare returns
Evils lurks in Derry, a quiet town in Maine in the prequel series which premieres later this month on HBO Max.

A sinister force stirs beneath the streets of Derry, a quiet town in Maine—at least, it would be quiet if not for It, the shape-shifting entity that often takes the form of a nightmare-inducing clown. Stephen King’s chilling universe expands once again with It: Welcome to Derry, a brand-new HBO Max original series that dives deeper into the origins of Pennywise. The final trailer just dropped, and it’s every bit as haunting as fans hoped.
A prequel set in the 1960s
Created by Andy and Barbara Muschietti—the minds behind It: Chapter One and It: Chapter Two—the series rewinds the clock to 1962, decades before the events of the films. Bill Skarsgård reprises his iconic role as Pennywise, bringing the clown’s twisted legacy to life in a story that explores how the evil first took root.

It begins with a vanishing
The horror kicks off when a young couple moves to Derry, hoping for a fresh start. But their arrival coincides with the mysterious disappearance of a little girl—an ominous sign that something ancient and malevolent has awakened.
As in the 2017 film, children take center stage, becoming the prime targets of Pennywise’s terror. His reign of fear stretches across generations, leaving a trail of trauma in its wake.
“You’ll float too”
Those who see the clown never forget. Pennywise invades their dreams, their lives, their very sense of reality. With his devilish grin, a single red balloon rising into the sky, and a chilling whisper etched into memory—“You’ll float”—he becomes a permanent fixture in their nightmares.
It: Welcome to Derry premieres Thursday, October 26 at 3:00 AM EST on HBO Max. Get ready to revisit the town where fear never dies.
