Last year it was announced that Bad Bunny would take on his first major movie role, playing El Muerto, a new superhero of Latin American descent in the Spider-Man universe in the movie of the same name.

Bad Bunny made an appearance at Sony’s CinemaCon last April, where the rapper and the company announced his role in the upcoming movie. But in a recent interview, Bad Bunny hints that his role in the movie may change.

‘El Muerto’ may be delayed

In his Time Magazine cover interview, the Puerto Rican rapper was asked about his role in ‘El Muerto’, and pretended he didn’t know what the interviewers were talking about.

His publicist said that the movie was currently at a “standstill” and later that it was “in development”. Earlier this month, the Twitter account BigScreenLeaks said that it is unlikely that the movie will make its original release date of January 12, 2024.

“Maybe they’ll switch me out for Pedro Pascal,” the rapper joked.

Later in the interview, Bad Bunny spoke about lost opportunities as a result of not speaking English.

“There’s a lot of things that I’m losing, like opportunities, ‘cause the language,” he said in English. It’s not clear what opportunities he is referring to, but he has made attempts to engage with an English language audience, making appearances on shows such as ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ and ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’.

“I didn’t care about [learning] English. But now, I think I care.” While he isn’t necessarily about to go out of his way to make music in English, he said that if he did, it would be because it made sense at the time.

“The day I feel like I need to do a song in English, I’ll do it because I feel it.”

Bad Bunny’s journey into the world of acting

While fans wait for Bad Bunny to make his first major acting debut, he can be seen in the movie ‘Cassandro’ opposite Mexican actor Gael García Bernal.

The movie premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2023. Amazon Studios is expected to release the movie on their streaming service Prime Video sometime later this year.

In the movie, he plays Felipe, a character who later shares an onscreen kiss with García Bernal’s character Cassandro.
