James Cameron leads global ticket sales

Director James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Titanic’ lead global box office sales, following the re-release of the epic 1997 film a quarter-century after its debut.

James Cameron has done it again, with the global box office raking in its highest revenue in favor of his movies. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, released December 16, 2022, and ‘Titanic’, re-released in theaters February 10, beat out Warner Bros.’ ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’.

The crowds that came out for the ‘Titanic’ re-release were significant, with the movie making $6.4 million domestically, with the film distributed by Paramount in North America and $15.9 million internationally, with Disney handling the sales in global markets.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, in its ninth week in theaters, added $25.8 million. ‘Titanic’, following its 25th anniversary re-release on Friday, grossed $22.3 million at the global box office.

‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’, a male strip-tease saga led by Channing Tatum, was this week’s third entry at the global box office at $8.2 million, trailing Cameron’s two films by more than $18 million.

Top grossing movies in history

James Cameron has three of the four top spots, for the honor of top grossing movies of all time.

‘Avatar’ maintains its spot at the top of the list with $2.92 billion in revenue.

In second place is ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ directed by Anthony Russo. This film marks the number two spot at $2.7 billion.

‘Titanic’ sits at third place with $2.217 billion

‘The Way of Water’ rounds out the top four spots on the list of top grossing films in history with $2.213 billion gross revenue.
