Update:

The Big Lebowski wasn’t an immediate box office smash upon its release in 1998. However, it has since become a massive cult classic.

The plot, inspired by the novels of Raymond Chandler, is intentionally convoluted and often seems secondary to the character interactions and comedic situations. It involves mistaken identity, kidnapping, ransom money, and a stolen rug that “really tied the room together.” The Coen brothers masterfully blend elements of neo-noir with stoner comedy and surreal dream sequences, creating a unique and unpredictable viewing experience.

Big Lebowski 2?

Two of the film’s leading stars, The Dude (Jeff Bridges) and Julianne Moore who plays Maude Lebowski have been reminiscing on the late 90s classic.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, on the possibility of a remake, Bridges claimed: “Of course. Julianne [Moore] and I would fantasize about that. We did another movie together, Seventh Son, she played a witch in that movie. And we would often say, ‘Gee it’s all set up for a sequel,’” Bridges shared, however he didn’t mention if their fantasy included bowling pins.

However, Bridges is a realist and is very aware of the Coen Brothers’ cinematic policy on remakes. “I don’t think the brothers are going to do that. I don’t think that’s their style. But I must say, they surprise us all the time… If they called me up and said, ‘Hey let’s do it again,’ I’d say, ‘Absolutely, come on.’”
