K-pop fans share their disbelief following death of Astro’s Moonbin
Fans took to social media to express their grief and share their condolences following news of Moonbin’s passing.
Fans of K-pop and the band Astro are still coming to terms following the sudden passing of Moonbin, who was found dead in his home by his manager on Wednesday.
The singer, who debuted in the group with Jinjin, MJ, Cha Eun-woo, Sanha, and Rocky back in 2016, recently performed in a fan concert in the Philippines as part of the subunit, Moonbin & Sanha.
He was 25.
Fans in shock following Moonbin’s passing
Moonbin’s passing was confirmed by the band’s label, Fantagio, who released a statement via social media.
“On April 19, Astro member Moonbin suddenly left us and has now become a star in the sky,” read the statement. “Although it cannot compare to the grief of the bereaved family that had to part with their beloved son and brother, his fellow artists and the staff here at Fantagio, who have been together with him for a long time, are also deeply mourning the departed amidst tremendous shock and sorrow.”
In a statement published by Yonhap News, local police say that the singer took his own life.
The passing of Moonbin, who was a child model and actor prior to joining Astro, has left fans of the band and the K-pop community in disbelief.
Many fans have taken to social media to express their grief and share their condolences.
“My deepest condolences to Moon sua, their parents, friends and family, to his brothers MJ, JinJin, Eunwoo, Rocky and Sanha,” wrote one fan. “I pray to the Almighty God for Moonbin’s soul to rest in peace. Gonna miss that eye smile of yours. Rest in peace, my love.”
“I’m shaking so bad… my binnie, i just saw you last month during your tour here in manila. everything is so sudden, i just don’t know how to process this,” wrote another fan. “I’m praying that your family and your loved ones are okay. rest in peace moonbin, our angel...”
Another fan wrote: “My sweet Moonbin, i am so sorry. I’m in shock but i can’t even imagine what ASTRO and your family are going through right now… rest in peace my love.”
“Omg no celebrity death has shook me to the core like this. I was literally watching his fancams in rotation yesterday! Not only was he super talented and beautiful, he seemed like such kind human being too RIP Moonbin, I’ll never get over this,” added one fan.
“I am at a loss for words. Rest in peace, Moonbin,” another fan added.
