Kanye West provides an update on his new album ‘Bully’
The rapper has taken to social media to give fans more information on his upcoming solo project.
Are we allowed to get excited? Just a little? Kanye West has provided an update to fans on his new album Bully, which is set to be released in the near future.
Not much is known about the project from the controversial rapper, who send a shockwave of sighs and quizzical looks around the globe with the release of his latest piece of work, Vultures 2, which was just about the most insultingly bad thing the musician has ever produced.
So now, with the snippet of information on Bully, fans are, as you might expect, not quick to forget about V2 and are cautious about this album that was first announced in China during a listening party for his previous record, which he recorded with Ty Dolla $ign. “I got a new album coming out,” Ye told the Chinese fans in a clip that was posted online, “The album’s called Bully.”
What do we know about ‘Bully’?
Not a lot, in truth. However, during that listening party, West let fans hear 2 new songs: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Preacher Man’. Both songs are rapped over what sounded like Soul/RnB beats, although making any firm conclusion based on a recording from high up in the rafters of the Wuyuan River Stadium is a stretch even for the biggest stan.
And now Ye has let us know a little more, hinting that the project could drop sooner rather than later. “Bully on the way”, Kanye posted on Instagram, teasing that the album could be close to completion. However, with Kanye, it’s never safe to make assumptions.
Another cryptic message came on Instagram, where Ye’s longtime producer Mike Dean said that “Beauty and the Beast” was in fact a “Donda leftover,” and was supposed to be on the 2021 album. Donda was a behemoth, 27-track project that lasts for 1 hour 48 minutes - 21 minutes more than The Simpsons Movie.
However, we don’t have any information on the album artwork and pictures that have come out claiming to be potential designs are unconfirmed at the time of writing. The same goes for the track list, the only songs we know that are on the album are the aforementioned titles.
The release date is also being kept guarded by West, although, as hip-hop fans, we hope that the project drops as soon as it’s ready and with no delays like we’ve been used to seeing with Ye albums over the years. Don’t forget, Kanye and Ty$ also have Vultures 3 to release, but if it’s anything like the second one, they can keep it on their hard drive.
