Kate Middleton and Prince William looked stunning when they arrived at the 2023 BAFTA Awards. Middleton wore a white Alexander McQueen gown and black opera gloves, and Prince William was seen in a black velvet tuxedo.

The couple was also caught engaging in a rare display of PDA on the 2023 BAFTA Awards red carpet on Sunday, when Middleton was caught giving her husband what Vogue dubbed a “love tap.”

A sweet display of affection

The Prince and Princess of Wales are not necessarily known for their PDA. But the short sign of affection made royal fans wild, with Vogue joking, “royals really are just like us.”

Previously, Prince William was spotted at the 2022 Royal Charity Polo Cup kissing his wife on the cheek, and wrapping his arm around her waist as they walked across the field in a very rare PDA on his part.

As Prince William is heir to the British throne, he has shown himself to be more reserved when it comes to interactions with his wife in the public eye, contrasted with his younger brother Prince Harry who has always been more affectionate with Meghan Markle, regularly seen hugging and holding hands.

A welcome return to the BAFTA Awards

The Prince and Princess of Wales appearance at this year’s BAFTA Awards marks their first appearance since 2020.

The couple was unable to attend in 2021 as Prince Phillip had just passed away the day before the ceremony.

“Diary constraints” prevented the pair from appearing in 2022, with Prince William virtually delivering a speech thanking everyone for attending the show.

Prince William has been president of the BAFTA association since 2010. Prince William and his wife first appeared together at the awards show in 2017, and this year’s appearance marks the couple’s first outing as Prince and Princess of Wales since donning the titles after it was given to them following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the ascension of Prince William’s father King Charles III.
