Katy Perry will be performing for King Charles’ Coronation concert on May 7

Katy Perry is one of the big names set to perform at King Charles’ Coronation concert on Sunday, May 7, along with her fellow American Idol host Lionel Richie.

The American pop star is already feeling the royal hospitality: she’s been invited to stay at Windsor Castle as she preps for the concert, and let her fans know that she would be sharing plenty of pics of her stay on social media.

An invitation to stay at Windsor Castle

Perry described her coronation invitation as “very regal” looking as if it were written in “a cursive I have never seen…I loved it,” she told Extra.

The singer added that she was grateful to receive the honor, as she is currently the ambassador for King Charles’ charity, the British Asian Trust, as well as an ambassador for UNICEF.

“I’m an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian Trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time that people don’t talk enough about, and it just aligned with all my values,” she explained.

“As a mother, I know firsthand that these innocent children need help, they need to be saved. I’m going there as an ambassador, and he asked me to sing, and it all aligned.

When asked if the royal family’s team had any say in Perry’s show, the ‘California Gurls’ singer revealed that she had actually been invited to stay at Windsor Castle.

“They said I was allowed to stay at Windsor Castle,” she said with excitement clear on her face.

“I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild.

What songs will she perform?

Perry was later asked by Access Hollywood what songs she could potentially perform but seems intent on keeping her coronation concert set a surprise.

“I’m just so grateful to be asked for these moments and that I have the songs to I think support them,” she said, adding: “It’s all about the songs at the end of the day.”

She later added that she plans on “going there to represent myself as an ambassador and just to bring the light and the love. That’s all I ever want to bring.”

When is the coronation concert?

The coronation concert will take place on Sunday, May 7 at 8 p.m. U.K. time. The concert occurs the day after King Charles is crowned king, which will occur on Saturday, May 6.

On April 14, the BBC revealed a partial look at who would be performing for the concert, which includes Perry, her fellow American Idol judge Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, British pop group Take That, Sir Bryn Terfel, Freya Ridings, and Alexis Ffrench.
