Hours after the release of her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department”, Taylor Swift surprised her fans with 15 more songs in the second part of a double album, subtitled “The Anthology”. While her relationships with Joe Alwyn, Matty Healy and current boyfriend with Travis Kelce are frequently referred to in the tracks, another celebrity also features heavily - Kim Kardashian.

What does Swift say about Kardashian in “thanK you aIMee”?

The socialite is the protagonist of the eighth song of “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology”, titled thanK you aIMee”. The lyrics make references to being bullied by a woman and how that bullying helped make Swift stronger and turn her into the person she is today.

Although the woman is referred to as Aimee, the stylisation of the song title means the uppercase letters spell “KIM”. The lyrics “I don’t think you’ve changed much, And so I changed your name and any real defining clues” also makes it easy to solve the riddle.

Throughout the track, Swift continues to make thinly-veiled references to Kardashian:

  • “All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’”
  • “Screamed, “F**k you, Aimee” to the night sky as the blood was gushin’, / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal”
  • “And one day, your kid comes home singin’ / A song that only us two is gonna know is about you”.

Since the release of “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology”, Kardashian has kept quiet on social media. However, a source close to the 43-year-old revealed to Life & Style magazine that she has put her spat with Swift behind her and isn’t looking to “open a new can of worms” with the pop superstar.

Kim probably does have regrets about lying about the editing of the now famous video, but it’s fair to say that she was caught up in the whole Kanye [West] aspect of it,” the insider claims. “She was basically protecting her man. I’m sure Kim could clear up what really happened, and why she did what she did, but I don’t think she wants to revisit that particular situation. It would just open up a whole new can of worms and she’s truly moved on.”

Why did Swift and Kardashian fall out?

The beef between the pair began in 2016 when Kardashian released a clip of telephone call between Swift and Kanye, her then husband, discussing his song “Famous,” of which Taylor is the subject. Kardashian released a three-minute video capturing parts of an amicable conversation between the pair in which Swift appears to approve a portion of the lyric, which she had previously denied.

After the leak, the “Shake It Off” singer was branded a “liar” and was the target of an online “cancel” movement.

In an interview with TIME magazine, Swift revealed that two main factors had driven her onto superstardom, one of which was being “cancelled” following the incident with Kardashian and West.
