Lady Gaga delivers last-minute ‘Hold My Hand’ performance at the Oscars
After previously stating she couldn’t attend due to scheduling issues, the singer performed after all
Lady Gaga is back on the Academy Awards stage yet again. After previously announcing she wouldn’t attend this year’s award ceremony due to scheduling conflicts, the singer and actress performed her Oscar-nominated song.
Just recently, Oscars executive producer and showrunner Glen Weiss disappointed fans by confirming that Gaga would have to skip the awards due to on-set filming demands ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’
However, earlier today it was confirmed by Variety that the singer would end up performing after all. The surprise performance was a delightful surprise to fans of the singer and actress.
“You might find that you can be your own hero, even if you feel broken inside.” The singer tells the audience before concluding her emotional performance.
Her performance differs from the recorded track, the singer opted to deliver a stripped-down, slower version of the original track, showcasing her strong vocals.
Her various looks of the night
Gaga performed her rock power ballad with no makeup on, in a plain black t-shirt and ripped black jeans with a modest french braid in her hair. The look was a major contrast to her red carpet look.
For the red carpet look, Lady Gaga wore a stunning sheer longsleeved Versace gown. She wore an intense makeup look with thick winged eyeliner and a bright scarlet lip. According to Elle Magazine, the gown just debuted on Thursday at the Versace fall/winter 2023 show in Lose Angeles.
An Oscar-winning song
This isn’t Gaga’s first time, or even second time, gracing the Academy Award stage. The singer has received nominations for both singles ‘Til It Happens to You’ from ‘The Hunting Ground’ and ‘Shallow’ from ‘A Star is Born,’ which she also starred in.
In 2019, she was also nominated for Best Actress in her role in ‘A Star is Born.’ However, she only brought home the award for Best Original Song that night for ‘Shallow.’
