Mel B teases a possible Spice Girls reunion with all five members
The last time all five Spice Girls reunited was in 2007.
A possible Spice Girls reunion is in the works, according to Scary Spice, Mel B, in a recent interview.
The Spice Girls are Geri Halliwell as Ginger, Victoria Beckham as Posh, Emma Bunton as Baby, Melanie C as Sporty, and Melanie B as Scary.
The last time the quintet got together was in 2007 for ‘The Return of the Spice Girls Tour.’ They later performed together at the London Olympics closing ceremony in 2012.
They later toured again in 2019 for the ‘Spice World – 2019 Tour’, but with only four of the five members, missing Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham.
Mel B hints that a new project will be announced soon
In a recent interview with The Sun, Mel B, real name Melanie Brown hinted that a new project was in the works for the British girl group.
The group hasn’t worked together since 2012, but their time apart seems to be coming to an end.
“My theory is that if I say it enough, it will happen. But actually, we are planning on releasing a statement,” Mel B told The Sun.
“What that is, I can’t say right now because we’re just finishing off perfecting what we’re going to be doing together, all five of us, but it’s going to be something that the fans are really going to love.”
Mel B said that it took careful planning to make sure that Beckham, who runs her own fashion and makeup brand, could join the group for their new project.
“Well, it’s not even about convincing her. I mean she dressed me and my mum for when I got my MBE, so we’ve kind of always been in contact,” she said of Beckham.
“It’s not like none of us are speaking together, we’ve all got a group WhatsApp, but it’s just about timing,” she emphasized.
“She was really busy doing her fashion line and supporting David with his moves and his career and obviously she’s got a bunch of kids so it’s just about finding the right time.
“And we’ve managed to do that so there should be an announcement pretty soon.”
Why Beckham was absent from the 2019 tour
When questioned about her absence from the group’s 2019 tour, Beckham said she wasn’t in the right headspace to be a Spice Girl again.
“It took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says: ‘You know, I’m not doing it because things feel different now than they used to,’” she told Vogue Germany at the time.
“I’d rather concentrate on my family and my company. I’m 45 now and very happy to be the woman I am.”
