Miley Cyrus says she won’t do another arena tour
The singer opened up about why she isn’t comfortable performing in such large venues.
The next time you see Miley Cyrus go on tour, don’t expect to see her visit any arenas.
While Cyrus is known for her amazing live performances, and covers, it appears she isn’t a fan of performing at big venues.
While speaking with British Vogue, she explained that she prefers smaller, more intimate spaces for friends and families rather than big arenas.
“It’s been a minute,” Cyrus said when she began speaking about touring. “After the last [headline arena] show I did [in 2014], I kind of looked at it as more of a question.
“And I can’t. Not only can’t, because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?
“Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety. It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people then you are alone.”
Cyrus has gone on major tours in the past
In the past, Cyrus has gone on major tours to support her albums like ‘Plastic Hearts’ and ‘Bangerz’.
Her most recent arena show dates back to 2015 for the ‘Bangerz Tour’. That tour lasted 78 shows and included stops at the Barclays Center in New York City and the O2 Arena in London.
While many had speculated that Cyrus would once again plan a big arena tour for her latest album, ‘Endless Summer Vacation’, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
‘Endless Summer Vacation’ debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, with the smash number-one hit ‘Flowers’ contributing to the album’s success.
The song hit top spot in several countries and broke the record for being the most-streamed song in a week on Spotify. It also broke the record to become the fastest song to achieve a billion streams on Spotify.
