New photos from the production of the highly anticipated ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ gave a better look at Lady Gaga’s portrayal of the DC villain, Harley Quinn, including her costume and make-up.

The photos showcase Gaga’s character being escorted by Gotham City police officers through a large crowd of protesters. These protesters can be seen sporting colorful wigs and clown masks and holding up signs that read, “Justice 4 Joker”, “No Justice Not Guilty Not Joking”, “Free Joker” and “Joker Marry Me”.

Gaga’s costume consists of a scarlet blazer with a diamond pattern and a black and white diamond-printed blouse. Her make-up features a bright red lip and black diamonds over her eyes.

This look combines elements from Harley Quinn’s iconic costume in the comic books as well as the original film’s aesthetic.

This is not the first look at Gaga in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’. On February 14, Gaga shared a picture from the movie to her Instagram.

The photo features Harley and Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) moments after sharing a passionate kiss with Harley appearing completely infatuated by Joker.

The female trickster was previously portrayed by Margot Robbie for DC Studios. Fans saw Robbie’s portrayal in ‘Suicide Squad’ (2016), ‘Birds of Prey’ (2020) and ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021).

“I think she’s going to do an amazing job,” Robbie told Entertainment Weekly regarding Gaga. “I’m so excited. All I could have ever hoped for Harley is that she would become one of those characters tha, kind of like Batman, or Hamlet, gets handed from actor to actor – everyone gets a go at playing them.

“So, I feel like it’s just a credit to her as a character that people want to see her in multiple iterations. I’m excited,” she concluded.

When will ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ release?

Since the ‘Joker’ films take place separately from the rest of the DC Cinematic Universe, the movies will remain untouched by the changes new CEO James Gunn will be implementing.

The film is slated for release in October 2024.
