“Are Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift beefing?” is a question on the minds of many after the release of Rodrigo’s second studio album, ‘Guts.’ Fans are raving over the new album from the former Disney Channel star, and some have crafted far-fetched theories that Swift could be the subject of various songs on the record.

According to the theories circulating online, these songs would be ‘The Grudge’ and ' Vampire.’ The first talks about the betrayal of a person who helped her build her success, while the second makes reference to someone who took advantage of her, lied to her, and used her.

Rodrigo, a Grammy winner, has made clear that she does not pay much attention to these theories, similarities she shares with Taylor Swift.

“I don’t have beef with anyone,” said Rodrigo during an interview with Rolling Stone. “I am very chill. I keep to myself. I have four friends and my mom, and that’s really the only people I talk to, ever. There’s nothing to say,” said the pop star. When asked about the alleged feud with Swift, Rodrigo responded that while there are “many conspiracy theories on Twitter,” she only pays attention to those “about aliens.”

Why do you think there is a fight between Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift?

As Rolling Stone addressed in the issue dedicated to Olivia Rodrigo, the pair had been spotted together after the release of Rodrigo’s debut album ‘Sour’ in 2021.

However, since its release, Taylor Swift and her legal team have demanded retroactive credits on two of Rodrigo’s songs, ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back,’ arguing that they are very similar to Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ and ‘New Years Day.’

The controversy over composition credits: “I would never do that”

In addition to Taylor Swift, Rodrigo was also forced to give retroactive credit to Paramore due to the similarities between their song ‘Good 4 U’ and the 2007 success of the group led by Hayley Williams, ‘Misery Business.’

Given the whole situation of the composition credits, Rodrigo admitted to the aforementioned media that she was a little surprised at the time. The young artist told Rolling Stone that she was a little caught off guard by the entire situation because she was new to the industry. As for the negotiations over the credits, Rodrigo maintains that she was not “very involved,” adding that “it was a team-on-team thing.”

In addition, she stated that she would never do something like that to an artist who is just starting out in the industry: “I don’t think I would ever do that personally, but who can say where I will be in 20 years? or 30 years? All that I can do is write my songs and focus on what I can control,” she noted to Rolling Stone.
