Oscar-winning performances and an animated gem: Hurry to watch these films before they leave Netflix at the end of April

Come the start of May, a number of Oscar-winning performances will no longer be available to U.S. viewers of Netflix.

How many films are being cut from Netflix by May 1, 2025?

According to information provided by the specialist website What’s On Netflix, the streaming giant is preparing to jettison nearly 50 movies.

These include Dallas Buyers Club, Erin Brockovich and The Whale - movies that earned Best Actor/Best Actress honors for stars Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts and Brendan Fraser, respectively.

What’s more, Whiplash - which brought a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for J.K. Simmons - is likewise due to be culled from the Netflix catalogue at the end of April.

Out of Africa and Schindler’s List, movies that each scooped seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, are also leaving Netflix.

So, too, is the Oscar-nominated Across the Spider-Verse, an animated film described by critics as a “work of staggering genius” and “something to behold”.
