Pedro Pascal reveals fans gave him eye infection while recreating ‘Game of Thrones’ scene
The 48-year-old shared the details during a recent appearance on ‘The Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable’.
Pedro Pascal likely won’t be recreating his famous ‘Game of Thrones’ death scene with fans anytime soon after revealing an interaction left him with an eye infection.
The 48-year-old starred on the hit HBO series as Oberyn Martell. His death at the hands of Gregor ‘The Moutain’ Clegane, played by Hafdor Julius Bjornsson, in Season 4 came after his character’s eyes were gouged out following a dramatic fight.
Pascal recently appeared on ‘The Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable’ with Kieran Culkin, Jeff Bridges, Michael Imperioli, Evan Peters and Damson Idris, revealing he actually got an eye infection after letting fans take selfies with their fingers in his eyes.
“I remember, earlier on, because of ‘Game of Thrones’ and the way my character died, people were super into taking selfies with their thumbs in my eyes,” said Pascal.
“At first, I was so earnest and happy about the success of the character in the show, and I’d let them. In New York, of all places!”
However, he wasn’t as enthusiastic about it all after getting a bit of an eye infection, with Culkin stating: “Wow, that’s a lot of trust.”
Pascal continues to star in hits
Since appearing on ‘Game of Thrones’, Pascal has appeared in other hit shows like ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Last of Us’.
His latest project, ‘Strange Way of Life’, which sees him star alongside Ethan Hawk, recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film is set in the 1990′s in a western backdrop. Directed by Pedro Almodovar, the film focuses on the complicated romance of two cowboys, played by Pascal and Hawk, after they reunite after 25 years.
All of the costumes used in the film were made entirely by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, who took inspiration from Western films of the era.
“Saint Laurent is proud to become the first brand fully in the business of producing films,” Vaccarello said when discussing Saint Laurent’s move into the production industry, adding, “I have always admired the women in Pedro’s [Almodóvar] films, both strong and vulnerable. In ‘Strange Way of Life’, his male characters have the same complexity.”
