Scarlett Johansson reveals one of her most disgusting experiences as an actress: “It’s the most horrible thing I’ve ever done”
The actress participated in a monster movie more than two decades ago - an experience she would rather forget.
Back in 2002, long before the Marvel era and the prestige roles, Scarlett Johansson shot the creature‑feature comedy Arac Attack (released in the U.S. as Eight Legged Freaks) alongside Scream star David Arquette. And more than two decades later, there’s one scene she still remembers with absolute horror — because it was, in her words, the grossest experience of her entire career.
Johansson played Ashley Parker, a teenager trapped in her bedroom when a giant mutated spider corners her and pins her to the wall with thick webs. The moment became one of the film’s most memorable visuals… and one of Johansson’s personal nightmares.
“Being covered in that slimy substance was the most disgusting, horrible thing I’ve ever done in a movie. It was cold, sticky, and wet,” she told Cinema.
Her on‑screen brother, played by Scott Terra, backed her up: “That stuff was awful. It stuck to everything — I still have it on my shoes.”
The giant‑spider chaos of ‘Arac Attack’
Set in a small mining town in Arizona, the movie follows locals who discover that a chemical spill has mutated the area’s tiny spiders into massive, human‑hunting monsters. What starts as a quirky sci‑fi setup quickly turns into a full‑blown survival fight as the townspeople battle the oversized arachnids.
It’s campy, chaotic, and very early‑2000s — and it helped launch Johansson toward the major Hollywood career she’d build in the years that followed.
What’s next for Johansson?
According to Deadline, the sequel Jurassic Park: Rebirth is moving forward, though it’s still unclear whether Johansson will return as Zora Bennett. Fans are waiting to see if she’ll step back into the franchise — hopefully with fewer sticky spider webs involved this time.
