Selena Gomez to host two new cooking shows on the Food Network

The news comes following Selena Gomez’s success with the Emmy-nominated ‘Selena + Chef’.

Selena Gomez is joining the Food Network after the channel announced its new slate of programming on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old is working on two projects for the network. The first, which will launch during the holiday season in 2023, will be a “celebration-focused series”.

The second project, which remains untitled, debuts in 2024 and will see Gomez meet with some of the best chefs in the country as she looks to cook their most popular dishes when she visits their kitchens.

Both projects will be produced by July Moon Productions and The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), which is a part of Sony Pictures Television for Food Network.

“The holidays are always huge for Food Network,” said Kathleen Finch, Warner Bros. Discovery’s chairman and CCO of US networks, in a statement.

“And having Selena kicking off the nearly 100 hours of new and returning holiday programming will certainly make this coming season one to celebrate.”

Gomez no stranger to cooking shows

News of Gomez heading to the Food Network comes following the success of her HBO Max series, ‘Selena + Chef’.

The show ran for four seasons and featured Gomez refining her cooking skills with the help of top level culinary stars, from Ludo Lefebvre and Padma Lakshmi to Kwame Onwuachi, Ayesha Curry, Gordon Ramsay and more.

In April, the show picked up its first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the outstanding culinary series category.

Along with announcing Gomez had joined the channel, Food Network also announced it has ordered a fifth season of Guy Fieri’s ‘Tournament of Champions’, which will come in early 2024.

The network is also ordering a new competition “travelogue” called ‘Best Bite in Town’ featuring Fieri, who “will appoint some of his chef friends to hit the road to visit different cities each week, competing to find the very best bite in town.”

“As the leader for food programming, besting ourselves year after year is no easy feat, but the upcoming lineup turns up the star power with new and returning faces and is packed with exciting competitions, magical holiday creations and culinary adventures for the whole family,” said head of food content Betsy Ayala.
