At SoFi Stadium today, the USMNT opens up its 2026 World Cup campaign with a Group D clash against Paraguay.
The country-music duo Dan + Shay is set to sing the American national anthem at SoFi Stadium this evening, as the United States men’s national team gets its 2026 World Cup campaign underway.
The USMNT faces Paraguay on Group D matchday one tonight, with kickoff in Los Angeles scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are the last of the tournament’s three co-hosts to take to the field: Mexico beat South Africa 2-0 in the World Cup’s opening game at the Estadio Azteca on Thursday, before Canada began with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Toronto this afternoon.
Big-name music acts set for SoFi Stadium stage
Before the ball gets rolling at SoFi Stadium, however, a number of major musicians are poised to perform at the 70,000-capacity arena.
Stars such as Katy Perry, Lisa and Future are due to headline the third of the 2026 World Cup’s three opening ceremonies, in an event that is scheduled to begin 90 minutes ahead of kickoff in California.
Shortly before USMNT vs Paraguay begins, Dan + Shay will then sing “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
The three-time Grammy winners will be joined at SoFi Stadium by the Paraguayan group Purahéi Soul, which will sing the pre-game anthem for the USMNT’s South American opponents.
How to watch the U.S. World Cup opening ceremony
The ceremony will air from 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on FOX, Fox Sports 1 and Fox One, with Spanish-language broadcasts also available on Telemundo and Peacock. USMNT vs Paraguay will then follow on these channels/platforms.
