Shakira had a response for Bad Bunny’s comments

The Colombian singer has picked up the gauntlet that the Puerto Rican threw at her in a new song, and it may mean more tracks lie ahead for us.

The name of Shakira is on everyone’s lips. After her breakup with Gerard Piqué, the Colombian singer has used music to channel her heartache and anger towards the former defender... and she’s done it rather well, most would agree.

Through collaborations with lyrics filled with pointed references, she has continuously broken records for streams on well-known platforms, secured new advertising deals, and appeared on renowned shows like Jimmy Fallon’s. As she herself mentioned in the session with Bizarrap: “Women no longer cry, women make money.”

Could we see a Shakira - Bad Bunny collaboration?

In fact, referencing that line from the song with the popular Argentine producer, Bad Bunny also mentioned her in his latest album, “Nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana,” (“Nobody knows what’s going to happen tomorrow”) which was released last week. In “Los Pits,” he says, “Bad Bunny on top, they have to get used to it. Now men cry, yes, but they keep on making money.”

While many interpreted this as a dig towards the singer from Barranquilla, she didn’t get upset. Instead, Shakira has taken up the artist’s challenge, as evidenced by the message she posted on her social media. On her Instagram stories, Shakira shared a snippet of the Puerto Rican’s song lyrics and wrote beneath it: “Facturemos juntos entonces” (“Let’s make money together, then”).

As yet, there has been no response from the artist to this offer.

Shakira’s year of resurgence

Shakira’s breakup with Piqué, with whom she has two children, Milan and Sasha, also marked her move to Miami, known as the epicenter of the global music scene. After a sort of hiatus of about a decade in Barcelona to focus on her family, the Colombian singer has once again taken the reins of her music career.

And she’s doing it in a big way.

Fans are supporting her in her new songs, and accolades keep pouring in. In fact, in her hometown of Barranquilla, where they are building a statue in her honor, she will soon receive the Golden Music Award Santander 2023, presented by Los40.
