What did Britney Spears say about Justin Timberlake in her book “The Woman in Me”?
In her upcoming memoir “The Woman In Me”, the “Princess Pop” has disclosed she fell pregnant by the NSYNC star as a teenager.
Britney Spears will reveal one of her biggest secrets in The Woman In Me, her upcoming memoir: she had an abortion at the age of 19 after becoming pregnant by her then partner, Justin Timberlake.
The “Princess of Pop”, now 41, claims to have been excited by the prospect of starting a family despite her tender years. However, she and the NSYNC lead singer were not on the same page, with Spears claiming he persuaded her to have an abortion because “he didn’t want to be father” so young. Timberlake is almost a year older and was 20 at the time.
Spears “expected to have a family” with Timberlake
In an excerpt from The Woman In Me, obtained by People magazine prior to its official release, Britney writes:
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.
Abortion one of Britney’s “most agonising” experiences
“I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
The “Baby One More Time” singer then goes on to describe the experience as “one of the most agonising things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Following the abortion, Britney and Justin stayed together for two more years until their relationship ended abruptly in 2002. Rumours at the time suggested Spears had been unfaithful to Timberlake, although that has never been confirmed.
How many children do Spears and Timberlake have?
Three years after the breakup, Spears welcomed her first child, Sean Preston in September 2005, with a second son, Jayden, born a year later in September 2006. Both children are from her second marriage to Kevin Federline, which ended shortly afterwards.
After dating Cameron Diaz for almost four years, Timberlake got together with another actress, Jessica Biel, in January 2007. The couple had their first child, a son, in April 2015, and welcomed a second boy into their family in July 2020.
