Today co-host Sheinelle Jones has explained her recent absence from the daily morning TV show, revealing on social media that she has been missing from the NBC program due to a “family health matter”.

“See you soon” - Jones shares message on absence

“I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show,” Jones wrote on Instagram today. “I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.

“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me.

I’ll see you soon.”

Absent from Today show for the past month

Jones, who joined Today in 2014, has not featured on the show for nearly a month: per People magazine, her last appearance on the program came on December 18.

As noted by the New York Post’s Eric Tedesco, Jones was a conspicuous absence from long-time presenter Hoda Kotb’s farewell show last week.

“We miss her too”

Sheinelle, we all love you and we are so looking forward to having you back,” Today co-host Craig Melving told Jones during this morning’s broadcast of the show.

Fellow presenter Savannah Guthrie said: “We know so many of you [viewers] have been asking about Sheinelle and missing her. We miss her too.”
