The rise and fall of actor Kevin Spacey is getting an in-depth look in the new two-part documentary “Spacey Unmasked.” The highly anticipated docuseries explores the controversies surrounding Spacey’s life and the sexual misconduct allegations that led to his career downfall.

The docuseries is already available on Max, the HBO streaming site.

What is the series about?

Directed by Katherine Haywood and produced by Roast Beef Productions, “Spacey Unmasked” promises a comprehensive look at Spacey’s life, from his early success to his fall from grace amidst allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

Despite being acquitted in a UK trial in 2023, the documentary aims to shed light on Spacey’s conduct through interviews with men unconnected to that case, as well as Spacey’s brother and people he worked alongside.

“Spacey Unmasked is more, though, than a blizzard of marks on one side of an is-he-isn’t-he ledger,” said The Guardian’s Jack Seale. “Viewers who are minded to believe what is alleged in these interviews are given a picture not just of whether an A-list actor came to abuse his position, but how.

The programme was first broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK on 6 and 7 May.
