Celebrities played a huge role in Super Bowl LVII’s ad collection, with a number of recognizable names featured in ads advertising snacks, insurance, and medicine.

With viewers tuning in to the big game to watch the halftime show, catch all the ads, or actually watch the game, the game offers advertisers the opportunity to promote to a wide audience of roughly 100 million people.

The ads this year focused on light-hearted humor and gave viewers a break from heavier news topics. Here are some of the most memorable performers for 2023.

‘Booking.com’ musical with Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy takes the spotlight in Booking.com’s ad campaign, which finds the actress singing about needing a vacation in a variety of fun outfits while singing the lyrics in a musical style.

Booking.com made its first appearance in the Super Bowl in 2022 with actor Idris Elba starring in the commercials.

“At Booking.com, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we are very serious about the business.” Arjan Dijk, Booking.com’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, told Variety.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ first Super Bowl ad uses the power of memes

Making their first appearance in the Super Bowl ad circuit, Dunkin’ Donuts had Ben Affleck play a Dunkin’ Donuts employee working the drive-through when his wife Jennifer Lopez comes through.

In the ad, Affleck puts his native Boston accent to use and takes orders from real-life customers, who are surprised to see the famous actor when they pull up.

The ad plays on a 2020 meme where Affleck was photographed struggling to pick up his Dunkin’ Donuts order from his porch during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Nostalgic role reprisals

Fans of ‘Breaking Bad’ were happy to see Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Raymond Cruz reprise their roles in an ad for PopCorners chips, rehashing classic lines from the show.

Alicia Silverstone also brought back her ‘Clueless’ character Cher Horowitz in a recreation of a scene from the hit 90s show in an ad for Rakuten.

John Travolta sang the song ‘Summer Nights’ from his famous movie ‘Grease’ with actors Donald Faison and Zach Braff in an ad for T-Mobile.
