Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn reportedly breakup after six-year-long relationship
The ‘Lavender Haze’ singer and actor Joe Alwyn reportedly call it quits.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have reportedly broken up after a six-year-long relationship.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the longtime duo called it quits a few weeks ago. The outlet says the split was amicable, and the relationship had simply run its course.
Just a few weeks ago it was reported that Alwyn had been joining Swift on her Eras Tour whenever his schedule allows for it.
The news comes amidst reports Swift has flown to Liverpool to film a new music video.
The relationship ‘ran its course’
However, the couple that typically kept their relationship out of the public eye has now reportedly broken up. A source for ET explains, “it was not dramatic. The relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.”
Alwyn has not been spotted in the audience of Swift’s shows since her Eras Tour kicked off in Glendale, Arizona earlier this year. Several of Swift’s celebrity pals, such as Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Laura Dern, and Emma Roberts have attended her shows so far.
The couple had seemingly been going strong, as earlier in March a source for People said, “Joe will travel with her when he can, they are great together. Joe is super supportive of her career.”
Neither Swift nor Alwyn have commented on the reported breakup yet.
Joe and Taylor’s relationship timeline
It’s speculated that the former couple first met at the 2016 Met Gala, based on fan theories using lyrics from Swift’s 2017 song ‘Dress’. The lyrics reference both Swift and Alwyn’s looks at the glamorous event.
Around mid-May of 2017, rumors of a budding relationship between the two started. A year later, they subtly went Instagram official by posting matching cactus photos. Alwyn later explained in an interview the Instagram relationship launch was completely accidental.
Over the next six years, the two would keep their relationship mostly out of the public eye. Only being spotted together on a handful of occasions, at various red carpet events and leaving restaurants together, Swift would go on to explain how she’s written several songs about their relationship.
The two also sparked engagement rumors in May 2021, when a source for Entertainment Tonight claimed the two had been discussing future plans of marriage, after growing closer after moving in together during the COVID-19 quarantine.
