Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez) was brutally attacked in a gym in South Florida earlier this month. The attack happened in the bathroom of an LA Fitness gym, after the rapper used the saunas.

Three men - Rafael Medina Jr., 43; Octavious Medina, 23; and Anthony Maldonado, 25 - were arrested on Thursday as per authorities.

They’re accused of assaulting and robbing 6ix9ine, who suffered multiple injuries to the face, during the attack.

The ‘GOOBA’ rapper took to Instagram on Friday to speak out about the incident.

“For 2 years I been walking around with no security,” Tekashi69 captioned a video of the attack.

“Not saying I promote that BUT now you see I really never hid from anything.”

He also called the attack “nothing but cowardly” and stated that he personally had “nothing to do with” the business the attackers were trying to settle, nor could he speak to motive.

Tekashi69 hospitalized after gym attack

Tekashi69′s lawyer Lance Lazzaro released a statement confirming the extent of the rapper’s injuries. He suffered non-life threatening injuries to the face, and was transported to the hospital soon after the police were called.

He was reported to have sustained multiple injuries to his jaw, ribs, and back, as well as various bruises and cuts.

One of the attackers filmed the incident, with the video quickly going viral on social media. Lazzaro stated that he is trying to get the rapper proper security.

6ix9ine gym attack motives still unclear

The motive behind the attack is still unclear. Many suspect the incident is in some way related to 6ix9ine’s snitching for a lower prison sentence.

In 2019, 6ix9ine was brought up on charges of racketeering, drug trafficking, and also admitted to being an accessory to murder.

He was released early from prison in 2020 after making a deal with the government after his testimony helped prosecutors convict two gang leaders.
