The Beatles biopic confirms the actresses who will play Yoko Ono and the rest of the band’s wives and partners

One of the most ambitious music biopic projects ever is officially underway—and it’s all about The Beatles. In a groundbreaking move, each member of the legendary band will get his own feature film, each telling the story of their time in the band from a personal perspective.

And now, we know who’ll be portraying the women who stood beside them—partners whose influence shaped both their personal lives and creative journeys.

Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono

Stepping into one of the most pivotal roles is Anna Sawai, cast as Yoko Ono. Known for her breakout performance as Toda Mariko in Disney+’s Shōgun (2024), Sawai has also starred in Pachinko (2022–2024) and made her big-screen debut in Fast & Furious 9. Her portrayal of Ono promises to be a centerpiece of the entire cinematic saga.

Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney

Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, Paul’s beloved wife and artistic collaborator. Paul and Linda were married in 1969, just as the Beatles were breaking up, and remained together until Linda’s death in 1998.

Born in the ’90s, Ronan has built a stellar career with standout roles in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Lady Bird (2017), and The French Dispatch (2021). Her casting brings emotional depth and star power to the role.

Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd

Aimee Lou Wood, best known for her role as Aimee Gibbs in Netflix’s Sex Education (2019–2023), will portray Pattie Boyd—model, muse, and George Harrison’s first wife.

Wood has recently appeared in hit series like Toxic City (2025), The White Lotus (2025), and Film Club (2025), showcasing her range and rising profile.

Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey

Finally, Mia McKenna-Bruce has been chosen to play Ringo’s first wife Maureen Starkey in the series. Mo was one of the group’s earliest fans and biggest cheerleader, regularly attending sessions at the Cavern before they had a recording contract.

She and Ringo wed in 1965 but by the start of the new decade were separated and divorced in 1975. Mo succumbed to leukaemia and died, aged 48 in 1994.

McKenna-Bruce appeared in an episode of the first season of ‘The Witcher’ (2019), and then gained traction in other similar projects such as ‘Faster’ (2020) and ‘Vampire Academy’ (2022). We recently saw her as Leonie in ‘Le cri des gardes’ (2025).

Sony Pictures Entertainment, Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes and Neal Street Productions have been granted permission to tell the story of The Beatles with four distinct theatrical feature films.

Shooting started in London during the summer and Mendes expects the project to last at least three years, with the films scheduled for release in 2028.
