The Beatles hit song from their ‘Abbey Road’ album, ‘Here Comes the Sun’, has garnered over one billion views on Spotify, making it a member of the exclusive Spotify ‘Billion Streams’ category.

‘Here Comes the Sun’ joins Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’, which recently hit the 1 billion mark faster than any artist in history, and only 405 other songs to ever be streamed one billion times on the platform.

It’s the Beatles’ sole track on the list. The song, written by the band’s George Harrison, had its billionth listen on Tuesday.

Drake was the first artist ever to make it to 1 billion streams on Spotify, with his 2016 song ‘One Dance’ from the ‘Views’ album.

The Beatles held out on digital

The Beatles did not immediately jump on the new trend of music distribution online, and held out having their songs being public until 2010 when they were released on iTunes — and other platforms much later, in 2015.

Tricia Rice, Spotify’s lead for label and music partnerships, commented on The Beatles’ success to USA Today.

“The Beatles have such an incredible catalog, and it’s one that continually finds new generations of fans,” Rice said. “This may be the (band’s) first song to cross into the billions club on Spotify, but their listenership continues to stay steady.”

“With over 30 million monthly listeners on the platform, the band’s music will continue to make impacts for many more decades,” Rice added.
