The Beatles’ first new music for years, and likely their last, will be released on Thursday 2 November, 2023. Using an old cassette provided by Yoko Ono, the wife of John Lennon, modern day technology and the ingenuity of the band themselves means a new track named “Now And Then” will be a major draw for the famous rock group.

The track will be released at 2 p.m. London time, equating to 7 a.m. in California and 10 a.m. in New York. It is being premiered in the UK on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music. It will then be available on most streaming services.

How was Now And Then created?

The original demo from John Lennon, with vocal and piano, has existed since 1978, while the rest of the track has been created using disparate parts of other Beatles’ recordings.

“Hearing John and Paul sing the first chorus together, as they lock into the line ‘Now and then I miss you’ - it’s intensely powerful, to say the least,” said Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone magazine.

To complete the song artificial intelligence technology created during the creation of the Get Back documentary. It was used to “de-mix” muddled recordings of overlapping sounds, isolate each instrument and repeat it in studio quality.

“It was the closest we’ll ever come to having him back in the room,” said bandmate Ringo Starr. “Far out.”

All those memories came flooding back,” added Paul McCartney. “My God, how lucky was I to have those men in my life? To still be working on Beatles music in 2023? Wow.”

Who are The Beatles?

The Beatles were a highly influential and iconic British rock band that formed in Liverpool in 1960. The group’s line-up was settled at the point they hit the big-time in 1963, consisting of four members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

The Beatles are widely regarded as one of the most influential and successful musical acts in the history of pop music. They were at the forefront of the British Invasion, a cultural and musical phenomenon in the 1960s when British bands gained immense popularity in the United States and around the world.

Some of their most famous albums include “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “The White Album,” and “Abbey Road.” Their songs, such as “Hey Jude,” “Let It Be,” “Yesterday,” “Yellow Submarine,” and many others, are considered classics of popular music. The Beatles disbanded in 1970.
