The curious way Jennifer Lopez hides the tattoo she had of her ex-husband, Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez has erased a very personal reminder of her relationship with ex-husband Ben Affleck, quietly covering up the matching tattoo they got together in 2023.

Months after their breakup, the singer and actress altered the ink she once shared with Affleck, whom she reunited with nearly 20 years after their first romance. The pair married in 2022, and by the following year, Lopez was photographed debuting a new tattoo that included Affleck’s name.

Lopez originally had a design tattooed along her rib cage featuring an infinity symbol pierced by a date, along with the names “Jennifer” and “Ben.” Affleck, for his part, chose crossed arrows adorned with a “B” and a “J.”

According to a source who spoke to celebrity gossip site DeuxMoi, the singer has since covered Affleck’s name on her tattoo, replacing it with a hummingbird. “Fans don’t know exactly when the tattoo was covered up, but they noticed the change in July or August of this year,” the source said.

It remains unclear whether Affleck has altered his own tattoo. The design is on his arm, and the actor is frequently seen wearing long sleeves in public.

J.Lo: “I’ve never truly been loved”

In October, Lopez spoke candidly about love and her past relationships during an interview with Howard Stern, offering insight into how she views romance today.

When Stern asked whether she has ever truly been loved, Lopez answered bluntly: “No.”

“What I learned is not that I’m not loveable,” she said. “It’s that they’re not capable. They don’t have it in them. They need to appreciate the little person inside of them. They need to love themselves.”

Still, Lopez was careful to add that she believes her former partners gave her everything they were able to give.

“They gave me what they had. All of it. Every time,” she said. “All the rings, all the things I could ever want. They tried to give me the houses, the rings, the marriage, all of it.”

“But they didn’t love you,” Stern replied.

“They didn’t love me,” Lopez said. “And I didn’t love myself either.”

J.Lo’s long, complicated history with Affleck

Lopez and Affleck first began dating in 2002. He proposed in November of that year, but the couple publicly ended their engagement in January 2004.

Later in 2004, Lopez married singer Marc Anthony. The two announced their separation in 2011, and Anthony filed for divorce a year later. Their divorce was finalized in 2014. They share 17-year-old twins, Emme and Max.

After Lopez ended her engagement to former MLB star Alex Rodriguez, she and Affleck rekindled their romance in the spring of 2021. Affleck proposed again in April 2022, and the couple married on July 16 in Las Vegas. They followed that with a three-day celebration in Georgia in August.

Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was officially finalized in January of this year.
