The investigation into the death of Matthew Perry is moving forward. In August last year, authorities arrested five people linked to the actor’s fatal overdose in October 2023. Among them was Jasveen Sangha – better known as the “Ketamine Queen” – accused of selling the drug that ended Perry’s life.

How long could Sangha face in prison?

Now, a year after her arrest, Sangha has become the fifth and final defendant to strike a plea deal with prosecutors, avoiding the trial that had been set for September. According to court documents, she will plead guilty to five criminal counts: one for maintaining a drug-related premises, three for ketamine distribution, and one for distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

In exchange for admitting guilt, prosecutors agreed to drop three additional ketamine charges and a methamphetamine distribution charge unrelated to Perry’s death. Sangha is expected to change her plea in an upcoming hearing, where sentencing will follow. Legal experts say the “Ketamine Queen” could face up to 45 years behind bars for her role in the actor’s death.

Others involved in the Matthew Perry case

Other defendants in the case have also admitted guilt. In late September 2023, Dr. Plasencia learned of Perry’s interest in acquiring ketamine. He contacted Dr. Chavez, director of a ketamine clinic, to obtain the drug and sell it to the actor.

Between September and October, Plasencia and Chavez conspired to supply Perry with ketamine at exorbitant prices – as much as $2,000 a vial. Plasencia instructed Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, on how to inject the drug so it could be administered outside of a clinical setting.

By mid-October, Iwamasa had also sourced ketamine through Sangha and drug dealer Eric Fleming. On October 28, 2023, Iwamasa injected Perry with the dose that proved fatal. Once the actor’s death became public, Sangha texted Fleming urging him to “delete all the messages.”

With Sangha’s plea deal, all five defendants in the case have now admitted their role in Matthew Perry’s death.
