The Netflix Halloween horror to see before it’s too late
It was one of the scary hits of 2022, made up of several stories that come together in the basement of a strange rental house.
The horror movie Barbarian had become one of the big surprises of 2022, and landed in Netflix’s catalog the following year. The movie is still available as we approach Halloween 2024, but its days on the platform are numbered, as it will be removed on November 1. This article serves as a reminder for those who haven’t seen it yet, and what better time of the year to get involved.
What is Barbarian about?
In Barbarian, a woman traveling to Detroit for work decides to rent a house for the night. To her surprise, upon arriving, she discovers that someone else appears to be living in the house, but he seems pleasant enough. The trash bin is full, things are disorganized, and appliances are running. However, to say someone is simply living there doesn’t quite capture the whole story...
Her arrival at the house sets the stage for several intertwined stories, all of which are ominously connected to the basement. Barbarian is a fast-paced, light horror film with some truly chilling moments, as it masterfully creates an oppressive atmosphere surrounding the basement – the kind of place that, in every horror movie, characters inevitably decide to explore the moment they see it.
